TLC's Homemade Millionaire Episode 3

Hey party people! Looking forward to seeing what Homemade Millionaire has to offer this evening! While I am starting to wonder if this might be the most under publicized show in TLC's line-up... (a post for another time) I am excited for these three ladies!!

Will it be Erika Wilson and her fabulous Purse Flats, Jennifer Martinson and her Magic Dress or Carissa Brown and her Carissa Rose Designs for us busty gals?

While there is no promo video this week, I can tell you (from my very quick research this morning) it looks like a couple of these women already have some great press under their belts! Carissa Brown has been featured by Adam Glassman, Creative Director for O Magazine , and Erika Wilson's Purse Flats have been featured in Glamour Magazine's Fashion Blog and MSNBC's Elevator Pitch! Jennifer Martinson, if you're reading, please feel free to plug any of your own press here as well!

So excited for the three of you and can't wait to see what comes out HAUTE tonight!

Feel free to share any and all advice with us here! We're also having some great conversations about Homemade Millionaire over at Tracy's ProductX blog - so be sure to check that out too!

Best of luck to all of you!

  1. I, for one, would love to see more publicity for this show...I wonder if it's a sign of the times (sadly)...none of my friends even know it exists! However, I will be tuning in and cheering on all the WI and don't forget to flip on HSN to see the product selling live! Good luck!

  2. Looking forward to the show tonight...hoping I can stay awake!

It's a shame they are not doing a better job promoting the show. I've been in contact with some of the women inventors that went to casting calls...they weren't aware the show was on...pretty sad!!

Come on TLC, Milojo, and HSN give these women the credit they deserve, and start promoting more!!

Chat your ladies tonight via twitter.

  3. Gee, Ro...that's sad (that women who went to casting calls are unaware it is being aired). Wow, you'd think that with all the money, time and effort put into this, someone would consider the fact that it needs to be reasonably publicized! I hope that there is no underlying reason why they are not doing so. Also, has anyone heard Kelly promoting it during her show?

  4. HOORAY FOR JENNIFER AND THE MAGIC DRESS!!!! She did a wonderful job and I'm so happy for her! Jennifer's sweetness and obvious talent came right through the television. This is only the beginning for this "fabric magician."

  5. Very disappointed. I thought the shirt for large busted women was a much better product and would sell millions. Larger women have a difficult time buying clothes that are fashionable, slimming and figure flattering. HSN always advertise corsets, straight jackets and boring big women clothes. I find the fashions to be a huge bore. The construction of the blouse was fabulous and could easily be adapted for more fashionable construction, fabric choices and prints.

The magic dress did not convince me that the zipper would be comfortable, and the idea of spandex makes the dress unrealistic for women of every size. I work in a clothing store, thus women need foundation, hence a shelf bra will not work for women with more weight on her frame, such as Jessica Simpson. Thus, I was appalled by the judges, because especially that nasty gray haired judge who moguls after young women. (He cannot help it, I saw him ogling the models on an episode of Project Runway), because they counseled the Purse lady about narrowing her target audience, and they counseled the shirt lady about women with a wide range of figures, yet they hypocritically chose the young girl who's target audience was young women, with skinny model bodies, (no bulges, hips, thighs, stomach, back rolls) thus most women will not be ordering the Magic Dress.

Lastly I am angry that although HSN received dresses that were designed with versatility back from the audience, they allowed another more complicated dress to be the winner.

This show is another flop. The shirt lady was professional, driving, motivated, and offered a sale-able product. I hope she goes to QVC and makes a million.

I will not watch this show again.
